The table below provides important dhātus in Sanskrit language as they have been listed in Dhātu-Pāṭha.
A dhātu is a verb root and Dhātu-Pāṭha can be considered as Dhātu Dictionary. The Dhātu-Pāṭha also encodes a wealth of grammatical information about the conjugation of verbs and the formation of nouns derived from each dhātu.

The dhātus in Sanskrit language have been divided into ten gaṇa, or classes of dhātu conjugation. Each gaṇa is named after the first dhātu in its section: for example, the gaṇa named भ्वादिगण, is formed as bhū-ādi-gaṇa. This gaṇa or class begins with the dhātu √ bhū. The word ādi means “beginning with”.

In the table below, the first column provides the dhātu together with its artha, or “meaning”. e.g. भू सत्तायाम् where भू is the dhātu and सत्तायाम् conveys its meaning. The meaning is generally expressed in Saptamī vibhakti. Thus the way to read the first column where both the dhātu and its meaning is provided is to read it as
dhatu as in meaning” or "भू as in सत्तायाम्"
